Welcome to 2010

Somewhere in the middle of the summer of 2009 I stopped doing entries, not that I didn't stop having adventures. In August Michael Forster and I went to Bariloche, Argentina for a ski adventure. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us, but we still had a fun time exploring the areas around beautiful Bariloche and spending some time in the snow. You can check it all out on http://www.mfsbargentina.blogspot.com/.

I continued to rock climb with Krista, Hunter, Lee and sometimes Sylvan, Christa and Ethan. Now that it is so cold, we have been spending time climbing at the YMCA to keep up our skills. The next LA mountaineers class starts in March and I will be helping out a bit with that.

I also spent a bit more time kayaking on the Rio Grande. I still have not mastered the skill of rolling my boat, but I'm still working on it. I bought a Jackson Hero which I should take possession of in February and will be able to get on the river more this year.

Now for winter. It is January 13th and I have skied about 9 times so far. I have yet to put back on my alpine skis as I am determined to get this telemarking down. I began the Taos Locals classes this past Sunday. We had a group of 5 (including the instructor). Everyone was nice and excited and our instructor seems great. We worked on a few basics, like stance, leaning into and down into the turn, edging, etc. Our goal is to learn to make turns in the moguls by the end of class. I'm excited about them anyways. Krista is going with me and she is just now learning the tele turn. It is nice to have a companion to do these with even though we aren't in the same group. It makes the drive and the beer afterward so much more fun.

Well there will be a lot more coming in 2010. Avy 1 class, trip to Winter Park, Climbing school, Wilderness Leadership Class and Tiffany's big graduation trip, which includes the Via Ferrata, bungee jumping (for her), and a 3 day kayaking trip with the orcas. I can't wait.
